Driven by deep family values and passionate about boating, Olivier Kauffmann and his son Gautier Kauffmann founded Windelo Catamaran after several years of research on ecological materials in partnership with the Centre des Matériaux des Mines d'Alès. The structure of Windelo catamarans is made from an innovative and eco-responsible sandwich composite that combines basalt fiber and PET, made from recycled plastic bottles. This new innovative composite reduces CO2 emissions by almost 50% compared to the manufacture of traditional PVC/fiberglass composites. After a year of work on the construction of its shipyard, the Windelo team moved into its 1,600 m² factory in March 2020. This strategic location in the Occitanie region allows Windelo to benefit from all the skills and infrastructures present in the port of Canet-en-Roussillon. The 4,000 m² “quayside” site represents the first development phase of the site. Windelo catamarans are designed in collaboration with the architects Christophe Barreau and Frédéric Neuman.
